The founders of Las Kakofónikas are Marta Renyer and Emma Bassas. Motivated by the absence of street theater companies made for women, we decided to set up our own. We are women and we are clowns and we like to leave our comfort zone. Our driving force is to make the figure of the comic woman visible in the public space.
What are our works like?
Las Kakofónikas are direct, fun and irreverent. We like to play with the audience and transform urban space. Always using humor and improvisation.
Our style
Las Kakofónikas is a street theater company born in 2019 with a clear objective: to transform urban space with the power of irreverence, humor and creativity. Created by women and made for women, we want to give visibility to clowns, those who challenge conventions and bring their unique perspective to public space. With a combination of physical theater, comedy and surprising interventions, our creations seek to connect with the audience in a direct and impactful way. We want to break the barriers between the spectator and the show, with an informal, fun and provocative tone. Las Kakofónikas is a cry of freedom and fun, an invitation to let ourselves be carried away by chaos and spectacle, to make us reflect while laughing at ourselves and the world around us. We move through urban space like a current that disrupts, like an explosion of colors and smiles, always with a critical gaze that challenges the rules and claims the place of women on the stage. If you like humor that breaks patterns, theater that occupies the streets and a new look at reality, Kakofónikas is the company you are looking for.
